From Personal Experience to Dementia Advocacy

In the early 2000s, Chris's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Wanting to spend meaningful time with his father and support him through the challenges of the disease, Chris made the difficult decision to leave his career at sea and become actively involved in his father's care.

That deeply personal experience gave Chris firsthand insight into the emotional, physical, and practical challenges faced not only by individuals living with cognitive impairment, but also by the families who love and care for them.

Driven by a desire to expand his knowledge and better support seniors and their families, Chris pursued specialized training and became a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). His training strengthened his understanding of dementia care, communication techniques, behavioral needs, and person-centered approaches that promote dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Supporting Seniors and Families

As a Client Outreach & Support Specialist and Care Manager, Chris helps seniors and their families identify needs, understand available resources, and navigate challenges that may arise throughout the aging and long-term care journey. His care management experience and dementia training allow him to bring an additional level of understanding and compassion when working with seniors experiencing cognitive changes and the families supporting them.

As part of the Medicaid & More team, Chris also helps connect families with valuable senior-care resources when their needs extend beyond the Medicaid application itself. This reflects the care management approach at the heart of Medicaid & More—looking beyond the application to help families identify resources, services, and professionals who may enhance a senior's safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life. This closely matches how Medicaid & More currently describes its broader approach to supporting families.

Chris is also a Notary Public, providing an additional resource for clients and families when notarization is needed during the Medicaid process.
