A Florida Assisted Living Facility (ALF) provides room and board and personal care services; such as help with dressing and bathing, taking medications, and general care of your physical and mental well-being. Another kind of ALF is an Adult Family Care Home (AFCH) which has no more than six residents. These types of communities are considered residential and are not considered medical facilities.
The LTCMC Medicaid plan will provide financial support to pay the contracted ALF or AFCH the cost for the level of care to assist their eligible members so they can afford to live within these residential communities. The Medicaid recipient’s responsibility is to pay the Assisted Living Facility the room and board rate. Each LTCMC plan will contract with its own providers, so not every ALF or AFCH will be covered under every plan. It is important to choose the plan that works with the facility that you are living in or that you want to enter. This LTCMC program encourages clients who no longer require 24-hour skilled nursing care to transition out of a Skilled Nursing Facility medical facility and move into an ALF or AFCH residential community, when appropriate.
