Chris Skillicorn hails from the Isle of Man, known as “The Jewel of the Irish Sea,” nestled between England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. From a young age, Chris knew that people were his passion, which led him to pursue a career in hospitality. He moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he earned qualifications in the hospitality industry before embarking on a remarkable 15-year career with Princess Cruises as a Food and Beverage Officer. During that time, he traveled the world multiple times, gaining a wealth of experience in customer service, relationship building, and delivering exceptional care and attention to others.

In the early 2000s, Chris’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Wanting to spend meaningful time with his father and support him through the challenges of this devastating disease, Chris made the difficult decision to leave his career at sea and become actively involved in his father’s care. This deeply personal experience gave him firsthand insight into the emotional, physical, and practical challenges faced by individuals living with dementia and the families who love them.

Driven by a desire to expand his knowledge and better serve those affected by cognitive impairment, Chris pursued advanced training and earned his designation as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). This specialized education enhanced his understanding of dementia care, communication techniques, behavior management, and person-centered approaches that promote dignity and quality of life.

Chris’s unique combination of worldwide hospitality experience, personal caregiving experience, and professional dementia training makes him an invaluable member of the Medicaid and More team and a Care Manager for Royal Care Management. He approaches every client as if they were his own family, providing compassionate support, advocacy, and guidance with courtesy, respect, and dignity.
